arby's

Arby's used to have the greatest French Dip Sandwich. And then one day, it was gone. I remember going to an Arby's in Georgetown shortly after I moved to DC, asking for French Dip Sandwich and getting a bunch of blank stares. Apparently that was not an option. So I asked for a Roast Beef Sandwich with the Au Jus dipping sauce and, again, the same look. I thought it must be a crazy East Coast abnormality so I called my Mom. She noted the same problem in CA. It was gone. I cried. And boycotted for years.

Recently they have come out with a Roast Beef & Swiss Toasted Sub, accompanied by Au Jus sauce. It is not quite the same, but it is good enough. I get it without the cheese because, really, the cheese is unnecessary. Just give me my French Dip. Today. For lunch. It was delicious. Needless to say Arby's and I are friends again. Plus Arby's has the bonus of Diet Dr. Pepper on tap, and yummy spiced curly fries.
