This weekend was the last of our "big walks" (long walks) to get ready for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer next weekend. Friday Tasha, Ashley and I walked 12 miles. The weather was awesome and the flowers were blooming bright. We saw some great tulips (below). Saturday we recruited some friends, promising a nice easy walk that would end at Chipotle. Chipotle must have been a strong motivator because we had six people join us for the five mile walk that morning.
I appreciate this experience because I have found that I really love walking. I can keep a swift pace, get good exercise and get lost in my thoughts. It's great becasue I can go forever and not run out of steam after five minutes like I do with running.
My feet are very scared for the 39 miles next weekend. As are my calves. And my left pointer toenail. But I am really excited for the experience. Thanks so much to those of you who have shown so much support to me in this adventure. I will make sure to take lots of pictures next weekend.

The walk is already happening? Good luck with it. I'd totally do something like that if I didn't have a baby at home. Maybe someday...Hey, sometime we're going to have to do a 12 mile walk. I'm up for it. Or, you can come do our 5 mile walk with us one of these days through the woods in Reston.
