sunflowers

My Dad grew sunflowers in the garden this summer. They were 10 feet tall and beautiful. Knowing my love of sunflowers, he saved me one. The flower head is bigger then my head. It is beautiful - even dry. The intricate details of the seeds, their coloring, patters and positioning are amazing. Nature does some neat things. I think sunflowers are the happiest flower. Shasta daisy's are a close second but the golden-yellow of the sunflower petals makes them the winner.

I wish I had a fresh bouquet of them always. Not necessarily the 10 foot tall ones, mini versions will do. After I take a few more close up pictures of this beauty I am going to harvest the seeds and plant them along the fence in back of our townhouse. How great would it be to look outside and see the giant sunflowers smiling back at you all summer?!? I am excited.
