This morning we headed into DC to be tourists again. The snow still blanketed everything and looked so nice and clean. We went up to the top of the Washington Monument and enjoyed the birds eye view.

We walked down to the World War II Memorial and I made art out of a pristine patch of snow. The fountains weren't on, I can only guess because of the freezing weather. So we headed down to the Lincoln Memorial after snapping a few pictures.

I liked spending time down by the Vietnam War Memorial today. In front of us, this little boy was slowly walking along the wall and running his fingers over the names - it was sweet.

As I experimented with the camera today I got these two shots. I cannot decide which one I like better.

And I wish I knew someone, or knew someone who knew someone, who was one this wall so I could take a meaningful picture instead of just randomly picking a name to take a picture of. On the other hand I am truly grateful that I don't know anyone on this wall. I see the notes left there from friends of the fallen ones all these years later and my heart hurts.

Next we headed to the
National Geographic Museum to see the Terra Cotta Warriors. There was also a great photography exhibit called Polar Obsession about the wildlife of the Artic/Antartic Poles. After that we were exhausted and headed home to relax before meeting up at Hard Times with Tasha and Susan.

After dinner we headed out one last time to hit the last few Memorials we had held off seeing till the night time. We had fun playing with the camera settings to try and capture the night shots. The water also wasn't on at the FDR memorial. Sad. But as we left, the moon was rising over the Jefferson Memorial. It was pretty.

I love seeing your pictures. I want a new lens so badly, but it takes a while to save up at a stay at home mom salary :)
Jake is dying to see the terra cotta warriors. He will be in DC on Sunday for a few days and is hoping to have some time. He is going to be there for the 100 year celebration of the boy scouts. Apparently they are having a big parade a spiffy gala where all the big wigs are going to be. I wish I could dress up for a night and schmooz...but for $600 a ticket, I think I'll stay home with my girls.
I want to get back there and soon, again.
First of all, who's Birdo...I don't know if you've ever told me about her. Second, what a fun visit. Third, how in the world do you brave the cold...I can't stand going outside when it's below 30. Fourth, you are the devil when it comes to baking. Those cupcakes look SO good. Devil!
oh my gosh your pics make me so excited to move there. I hope you dont mind that I saved some!!
WHat a great time! And such great pics to document the adventures. Love ya!
