cadbury creme eggs

This picture was borrowed from someone courtesy of google images.
I would have taken my own, but my Cadbury Creme Egg did not survive that long.

We went to the Sheetz (gas station) for lunch yesterday (they make sandwiches) and to my perfect euphoria and absolute horror there was a large display case with Cadbury Creme Eggs and Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. The sweet shiny beautiful Cream Eggs called out to me like an old drug habit. My mind said "NOOOOOO! It's too early! You are only supposed to be tempted by the Creme Eggs for a month or two a year. Not four months. You cannot control yourself for four months!" My sweet tooth said "Hello old friend!"

When I was a child I fell in love with the Cadbury Creme Egg. I used to tell my siblings that the middle of the Creme Egg was real egg yolk mixed with sugar. It grossed them out so much that they would trade their Creme Eggs to me for other candy. I ran that scam for a while, until they wised up. In the later years, when Costco started selling Creme Eggs by the dozen, my Mom egged on (way clever right?) my addiction by hiding the little beauties around the house for me to hunt for on my birthday. Then I would have a whole stash to save and eat throughout the year. Bliss I tell you. Go ahead and make fun of me, but BJ Novak and I share the same addiction.

The greatest part of the Creme Egg is the oh so sweet pseudo yolk center, the chocolate is just the conduit for the creme. Forget it when there is a crack in the chocolate and the center hardens. You might as well throw those suckers out. The mini eggs are no good either; there is like a teaspoon of of creme in them. And carmel eggs? Or orange or mint eggs? People. WHY ARE YOU MESSING WITH PERFECTION? Give me an egg with sweet heavenly creme that slowly oozes out of its chocolate shell.

Good thing my diet does not start until after I am done with Paramedic class...

Camille, This was a beautiful post. I particularly liked the BJ Novak clip about the Cadbury Eggs. Autumn and I laughed and laughed as we watched it. Agree they are delicious, but wow - freezing them and eating them all year long? That seems a bit extreme. So does Ryan's character on the Office though...

I didn't realize you love ran so deep! I was one of those who thought, "Gross, who would want to eat egg yolk". Then one day I tried them, and I was sold. So, today, I STAY AWAY from them...they're like the devil, tempting me to just eat one (which, of course, I can't stop at one!).

Dude. K. I have two in the freezer as an experiment. It never even entered my mind to try that. Weird considering mom throws all chocolate in the freezer to preserve it.

I don't throw it in the freezer to preserve it as much as I throw it in so it won't tempt me daily! And I don't like the flavor of frozen chocolate as much as the fresh - another bonus!
