Mom in DC: National Cathedral

Today we went to the National Cathedral in Washington DC. It is the an Episcopal church where Ronald Reagan's funeral was held, where the presidential prayer service (that the President attends) the day after inauguration, and where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his final Sunday sermon (days before his assassination).

It is a beautiful building. There are so many gorgeous stained glass windows in the cathedral. Outside there are some really cool gargoyles, some day I want to do the gargoyle tour.

The weather was perfect today so we wandered around shooting pictures of the cathedral, the gardens and everything in between. We killed time until the singing church started.

Yes, we went to singing church. The choir had beautiful voices, there was a super cute baby in of us to keep us entertained while we were stuck standing for long periods of time. We were surprised at the end when we suddenly noticed that the choir consisted of all men, the soprano/alto parts being sung by boys. I would never have guessed that listening to them. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
