I was doing rotations in Pediatrics. It was slow and boring, only 4 kids in the unit. Until we got an admit for a 7 year old boy. He was scared so I decided to play with him. Along with his action figures, he had a toy piece of kryptonite. He asked me if I was allergic to kryptonite. I decided that I definitely was and he chased me around with the green piece of plastic. He was funny. After the nurse measured him, he came into the room stating he was 44 feet tall (actually 44 inches). The best is when the nurse was telling him about lunch options. One of the options she offered was hamburgers, the kid emphatically stated that he does not like hamburgers - he does not like ham. His Dad smiled knowingly and asked if he likes cheeseburgers. The kid smiled and said yes. The Dad asked if he liked burgers, he said yes - but not ham. Funny.
Yesterday:
Prop 8 passed. 52% yes : 48% no. That seems like a slim margin, but when you look at the numbers that small gap represents about 780,000 people.
Monday:
I was so tired that I went to bed at 6:30pm and got nine hours of sleep.
Sunday:
Church and dinner (to celebrate Kim's b-day) with friends - the perfect way to spend a Sunday.
Saturday:
I did not like Saturday.
Friday:
Punkin' Chunkin (see below).
Thursday:
I got to hang out with Erika, Ella, Baby Jane and Jon and watch The Office. For dinner Erika made us chicken-n-dumplings AND delicious low-cal spice cake topped with rich high-cal cream cheese frosting. Then she sent me off with leftovers for my 11pm-7am rotation in the ER. That piece of cake was just what I needed around 3am. And on the commute home. And for breakfast when I got up form my 3 hour "sleep" on Friday to head to DE. So much for the extra pieces to share with my roommates.
Wednesday:
I don't even remember Wednesday. It seems like it was a year ago.
I am exhausted.
