little things

Yep, the pumpkin straw did it.

Good: Tonight I ordered one if my top 5 favorite DC meals (Kabob) for dinner.

Bad: After parking in the CVS parking lot and running into the Kabob Palace to pick up the order (took like 2.5 minutes), my car was gone.

Good: I was distressed, I didn't know if it had been towed or stolen. Had I locked the door? I thought I had. Could they tow it in that short of time? Was I going crazy; did I park it somewhere different? Luckily, there was a homeless guy sitting in front of the CVS who confirmed that a tow truck had just barely towed away a small light colored car. Phew, towed is better than stolen. Although somehow the thought of it being towed ticked me off more than the thought of it being stolen.

Bad: My cell phone, my lifeline, was still in the car. After all I was just running in to pick up the order.

Good: The CVS had a phone they let me use.

Bad: The tow people are uncaring, jerk-faced, people-hating, scumb-of-the-earth, drain-on-society, no-good, mean-spirited,  didn't-get-enough-love-from-their-mothers, totally-rude,  a-holes and after getting off the phone with them it took all my effort to controll my feelings.

Good: I had memorized Ashley's phone number for just such an occasion when I was without my cell phone.

Bad: Ashley is not in the continental US right now.

Good: There's always 411!

Bad: Neither Merrilee's (friend whose house I was headed to with dinner) nor Tasha's phone numbers are listed.

Good: Merrilee's house was only 1.5 miles down the road on a, most if the way, moderately lit street. This would give me chance to cool off.

By the time I got to Merr's house I had gotten my homicidal thoughts under control. She joined with me in my bitter tirade about the tow company and then offered me a beverage. The idea of an ice cold Diet Coke soothed me a bit. It was the embellishment, however, that put me back into a good place. Merr stuck a 3-d pumpkin straw in for extra good juju. It worked. It cheered me up. Sometimes it's the little things that make you smile, ya' know?
