Snowmageddon: And so it begins

This weekend, DC and the surrounding areas braced for what newscasters were calling the storm of the century. Stores were were deprived of milk, bread, meat and toilet paper. Friday morning I had the audacity to walk into Home Depot and ask where the salt was located. The lady at the front in the orange smock looked at me like I was deranged and just shook her head. No salt. No shovels. No luck. Wait, I did have a little luck - Ashley is out of the country and left me with her 4 wheel drive Explorer. Lifesaver.

I headed into work this afternoon to make sure I could be there at the start of shift 0700 Saturday morning. As emergency personnel, we have to come into work. As a coworker of mine learned, 40 inches of snow in your neighborhood with no foreseeable plowing is not a valid excuse (and will get you a long talk with the Deputy Chief in his office). Because of this, all of my shift came in Friday evening. We grabbed dinner and watched a hockey game before hunkering in for the night. It was a full house.

Yikes! that is a ton of snow.
Jake is stuck in DC until Friday. I was supposed to have him home this afternoon...no fair! Enjoy all the whiteness. I will be basking in 70 degree weather this weekend. I love AZ!
