For the past two years my friend, a cancer survivor herself, has participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Each year I have been able to meet her at the finish line as thousands of women (and men) triumphantly finish their two day, 39 mile walk.
This year I have decided to walk with her and a few of our friends. I have hesitated to do the walk until now because each participant has to raise $1800.00 and asking people for money is something I am not comfortable with. But the more I thought about breast cancer and the impact that being diagnosed with it would have on a woman, the more I decided that this was a cause worth going out of my comfort zone for.
So here I am. I am going to walk 39 miles (yikes). I am going to raise $1800.00 (double yikes) to help fund research, treatment, education and care for those diagnosed with breast cancer. I have set up fund raisers with four different local restaurants and am hoping to earn a bulk of my donations through those events. But I can still use your help.
Here is where I ask you to donate money. Sorry. I know that times are tight, but this is a worthy (tax-deductible) cause and every little bit helps. So if you can, please click here to donate. I truly appreciate your help and support.
And don't worry, I will blog about the killer long practice walks and huge blisters I get leading up to the big event. Or if gross pictures of large blisters makes you ill, I will take donations to keep them off the blog.
