Today I met up with Erika, Jon, Ella and Jane at the Carlyle for brunch. Erika has been bragging about how great the french toast is for months. My favorite french toast is found at the Eastern Market in DC but Erika contended that the Carlyle's was better.
It was delicious. It was the most fancy french toast I have ever eaten. Made of super thick slices of sweet brioche bread, it seemed to be crusted in a flaky almost crunchy outer layer rather than the normal eggy outside. It was really good. And really fancy.
Erika and I opted for the fruit side while Jon had eggs, bacon and potatoes. The potatoes were excellent. I am getting those next time. Ella ate a little of everything and played with her "hi-ho's". While the food was great and I would recommend it for a nice brunch, I still love the Eastern Market french toast. Shhhh...don't tell Erika.

I just noticed, we were short changed on our fruit today! At least we got that extra basket of bread. I wish I could eat a plate of that for dinner too!!!
