This is a shout out to my brave Mom. I am so proud of her for stepping so far outside her comfort zone, dedicating her time, talents and resources to support something she believes in. Something we believe in. I am not very good at being vocal about controversial things. It makes me nervous thinking that I might offend people. It makes me nervous because I am not a strong/eloquent speaker. It makes me nervous to think that people might not like me because of my beliefs. I know before joining with a cause she felt so strongly about, my Mom felt the same way.
But my Mom is braver than she believes she is. She has pushed past those fears and put herself out there to be mocked and assaulted. She has said several times that what Elder Clayton said keeps her going: "We cannot afford to loose, we must not loose, and I don't think we will loose." I am so proud of her efforts. And the efforts of other family members, and the people of California (and Arizona and Florida) who are fighting for their rights to protect marriage. I am amazed at how much they have done while faced with such pernicious opposition.
I hope that I can someday be brave like my Mom. Thanks for continuing to be a good example to your kids.

I am new to your blog. What exactly is your mom supporting? Gay Marriage? I apologize if I missed your message. TJ Skiatook, OK
Hey TJ,
Welcome! She is actually trying to protect marriage between man and woman. I just got such harsh comments from people I had never met before, last time I referenced the proposition by number, that I decided to leave it out this time. As you read, I am a wuss.

That is amazing! She is a great example to all of us.
