jane austen

While I will admit I have not ever ready any Jane Austen books, I have seen all movie and TV versions of her books. And I love them. I am ever impressed by her insight and wit. A few great quotes courtesy of Ms. Austen:

Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us.

For my single girl friends:

There are certainly not so many men of large fortune in the world, as there are pretty women to deserve them.

This is so true, unfortunately:

A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.

Remind me of this in twenty months:

It sometimes happens that a woman is handsomer at twenty-nine than she was ten years before.
