map my run

Map My Run is a pretty cool website. It allows you to plot points on a map to route your planned run or walk and it calculates the distance for you. This has become a handy little tool for me. The free version has an annoying pop-up add that you have to move every time you open the program, but you get what you pay for and it's free. It is really nice to know how far you've gone without having to drive the streets around your route and make a guesstimate based on your car's odometer.

There is also an iPhone app made by the same company but the jury is still out on that one. It seems to drain my battery pretty fast and the GPS is spotty. Don't know if the GPS problem is the app or the service provider.

I am also in love with Gmap Pedometer. They have a new function for runners that lets you just click on intersections and it will follow the road, instead of just doing a straight line between map points. This is useful for roads that are not straight. Like I said, love.
