I am so grateful for my car. I have had it over a year now and it has not given me any problems. It is a great charcoal grey color that hides dirt well. It is a stick shift and gives me alot of speed off the line and great control on the road. Not that I speed and would need those kind of perks. Plus it has a sun roof - huge bonus!
Incase I ever get cocky about how great my car is, my Mazda 3 has a built-in humility feature - manual locks and windows. Seriously, what kind of vehicle has manual locks and windows? Maybe (but probably not in the year 2006) a basic car, but this one has a power sunroof! That is not basic. I bet the original purchaser of this car (I bought it used) had to pay the dealership extra to get a car without those standard features. Bizarre.
Anyhow. I know you on the west coast had not been introduced to my car. So, family meet Sunny, Sunny meet family. They are good people. And yes, I named my car Sunny. I have a long history of naming inanimate objects things like "teddy" my teddy bear, or "sealy" my stuffed animal seal, or "baby doll" take a wild guess. Who would have thought a kid that creative would have grown up to be a graphic designer... sort of.
Cars in the past have been "the Z" or "the Escape" or the most unorthodox of them all "the white car". Clever right? I swear I am a good creative graphic designer. So this time I decided to make an effort to name the Mazda 3. "Sunny", as in the logo on the steering wheel has some resemblance to a sun - sunny. Pathetic, I know. While not too creative is also appropriate because this dependable cute car that handles well and gets great gas mileage (30ish mpg) makes me happy. All happy and sunshiny inside.

I drive a Mazda 6 (stick as well) and love it. It is older than yours ('04, 60k miles), but I haven't really had any problems to speak of either, so we'll cross our fingers and look forward to smooth sailing from here forward too. I plan to keep it until the tires fall off. :-) After driving a gutless rental car for a week in CA I'm more than happy to get back behind the wheel of my blessed 6. I am thinking I'm going to call it Chacho. It's been 4+ years in the decision stage on the name.
When you sit in it do you whisper "zoom-zoom?" I totally would.
