So tonight Sarah, Chris, Carson and I went "camping". Yes, Sarah used air quotes when telling Carson about the adventure we were embarking on. Sarah got this fun idea to find a fire pit and make foil dinners and smores. It was a great night. The weather was prefect. It was too bad we couldn't actually go camping instead of just "playing" camping. Our foil dinners were super good; the usual yummy combo of hamburger, onions, carrots, potatoes, spices and the Berget addition of A1 sauce. For dessert we had smores galore; I may have gone overboard in the grocery store because I was so excited about them. Smores with Reese's, Symphony, Grasshoppers, or the good ol' staple of Hershey's chocolate. You could say it was a smoregasbord. (Man, I crack myself up sometimes.)
We also experimented with a recipe I had found online for campfire cream-puffs. You wrap a biscuit around a mallow and chocolate and cook it over the campfire. It suggested to do it on foil on the fire, but that ended up burning for me. I found it more effective on a two pronged roasting stick and toast it like a mallo. Just be ready to be patient (10 minutes or so) good things are worth the wait. The mallow was so nice and gooey inside snuggled with the fully melted chocolate. It got us a sugar high really fast. Sarah and I actually made them for appetizers. Do not worry, it did not spoil our appetite. After all the eating was done we hung out around the campfire until it died down and Carson let us know that he was ready to go home. It was a really good night. I wish I did stuff like this more often.
