rain smell

You know right before a storm starts, the wind picks up a little, you look up towards the breeze and realize that half of the sky has turned dooms-day grey. If you are lucky, the thunder starts to roll, subtly at first - building up to crack and boom. You catch a streak of lightening in the distance. A shiver of excitement runs down your spine and a smile comes to your face as you start to smell the rain coming. Ahhh, love it.

And when the storm is overhead splatting water down in huge drops, cooling the warm pavement, the ground steaming a little. You open your window to listen to the melody, enjoy the breeze and you nostrils fill with the clean scent of fresh rain. In that moment I am sure that there is nothing better than the simple pleasure of smelling the rain.
