saved by the bell

In case you missed it Zach Morris was on Jimmy Fallon earlier in the week. Watch it here. (if NBC hasn't taken it down yet) It was classic. Mark-Paul Gosselaar stayed in character the entire time, he chatted his state-of-the-art cell phone and used "time-out" to freeze the show and talk to me... I mean the camera. Also, Zach announced that he and Jesse would attend the SBTB reunion that Jimmy Fallon is planning. (only Screech and Kelly have yet to commit) Get excited!

doomsday

Yesterday I found myself driving into this mess. It looked like doomsday. I felt like I was heading into that last scene in the original Ghostbusters movie; any minute the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man would be stomping past me. It was a bit surreal.

air tack management

(l) I love watching fire, it is mesmerizing. (m) That smoke is bad. It is angry smoke. (r) Breathing from the bottom, flashing out the top.

Six or so months ago I had the opportunity to listen to John Taylor, no not the third president of the Church, speak about fire dynamics and how we can fight fires smarter. It was fantastic. And it will never happen in the US because we are, as they say "200 years of tradition unimpeded by progress."

(l) Proof that smoke does burn. (m) The Chief playing with his toy fore box. (r) Managing the air track with a makeshift door.

This week Prince William County (the county that surrounds us) asked Mr. Taylor back to lecture and teach their people more about managing the air track. It is a promising that the Assistant Chief believes in this so much. It is promising that they teach air track management for a week in recruit school. It is promising that they are paying to send two of their firefighters to England this summer to learn how they fight fire. It will take 5 or more years to get it to a place where the union and department can seriously talk about changing things, but at least there is a chance. Mr. Taylor said they are hoping to make PWC FD the first department to control fire this way and an example to the rest of the country. I hope that it works for them. And I hope my department joins in.

sure

I'm almost sure.

I have a sweating issue. It gets embarrassing, especially when I am teaching. Recently I have been using Secret clinical strength deodorant. Yesterday after sweating in the hot sun, weathering the humidity and being pushed back by the heat of a backdraft my armpits looked like this. Usually there is a huge literally frisbee size sweat mark where the few splotches of wetness are now. Woo hoo!!!

cheesecake pops

Bakerella has one upped herself. Will someone please make these Cheesecake Pops for me? I could not be trusted making them because they would never make it out of my house to their intended destination.

new view on cupcakes

Today I experienced the wonder of a cupcake as seen by a four year old. It was a pretty fun experience. Lynette made these beautiful creations for Carson's birthday. Carson loves bugs; scorpions are his favorite.

Click on the picture below to enjoy Carson's view.

As evidenced in these pictures, cupcakes are a wondrous creation. Also Lynette made an Alligator cupcake cake. As you can tell Brynlee decided to dig into one of those cupcakes. She is super cute.
