While looking up a funeral potato recipe today I stumbled across this one and discovered a super fun website They Draw and Cook.

As is obvious from their blog title, it is recipes done up pretty by artists. I love this 7 layer dip one. (remember to click on the pictures to open them in a bigger window, any you can even zoom in from there - they deserve it)

Some of the recipes I admittedly would never make, others were so familiar. I never knew why it was called Monkey Bread but this drawing has my imagination running wild. Seriously, why is it called Monkey Bread?

And this one? Um, it is now on my to-bake list. If I had time I would make it today. But I do not. :(

A long long time ago, in a far far away land called Amadon, there lived a little community of friends. Their kingdom was reigned by a under-appreciated queen with a big headed baby. The community of friends all had their place in the little kingdom - staff writer, layout editor, photographer, copy editor, editor-in-chief, and they all worked together to produce an "award winning" little publication for their queen.

The community of friends had fun in their endeavors. There was Camille the Editor-in-Chief: which was ridiculous because she could not edit well. There was Sarah the Copy Editor: a position created because Camille was a non-editing editor. Sarah edited all the articles with a bug fluffy pen, and liked it. There were page editors that stayed late once a month stressing out about deadlines, trying to make things fit on a page and eating pizza. They ate lots of pizza. And staff writers, without which this little publication would not have existed.


In this kingdom there was one writer named Shea who did her job with a tenacity that others did not show. When there was a pro/con to be debated or a heap to be nominated, she was there with her acumen and quick wit. When there was a stripper scandal in the land, she went after it with the gusto of a real reporter. The community of friends knew that when they graduated from the kingdom of Amadon, while the rest of them would move on to different things, it would not be the last that the world of journalism heard from Shea. And they were right.

Today Shea is the Editor-in-Chief of verb [ICT].

She launched her own on-line magazine!

Today. It launched today!!! Her brain child came to fruition. She had an idea, got a team of people together to make it happen, and is now the EIC of a great product that is going to enhance life for the community she thrives in.

Shea has been a long-time blogger/writer and has spent years freelancing for various on-line and print media. She has worked hard to make a name for herself in the new media world. I am so incredibly proud of her. What an awesome accomplishment! To me, you are brave Diggety. Congratulations.

ps: When you launch verb [dc], I want in.

That angle of Ed's self proclaimed "green mankini" makes them look way longer than they are. Really they cover maybe 1/3rd of his lengthy thy. My favorite part is that when Jillian changed into normal clothes to meet Ed's parents and he STAYED IN THEM. Way to stay classy Ed.

There is a really cool show on Discovery Channel tonight and tomorrow (Monday) night. You should try to catch it on the DVR if you get a chance (times here). If not, hopefully they will show it again. The above picture is a Christmas Tree Worm. Did you know they existed? Me neither, but they come in a rainbow of colors and live in coral. The picture does not do the show justice (watch a clip here). It is a documentary about the Pacific. I am not really a documentary kind of girl, but I do appreciate beautiful pictures. They cover above and below the ocean as well as the making of islands themselves. And penguins. And chameleons. I have no idea how they get they shots they do, but they are amazing. AMAZING. I need to the Pacific. Right now. Maybe Palau. Or Bora Bora.

Tasha and I went to see The Proposal this morning. I love Sandra Bullock and will pretty much see any movie she is in. While she does not have the greatest track record (Speed 2, Forces of Nature), she does have some great ones (While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality). Luckily this time Sandra did not disappoint. The Proposal was a fun, smart, entertaining movie. I would see it again.

In case you missed it Zach Morris was on Jimmy Fallon earlier in the week. Watch it here. (if NBC hasn't taken it down yet) It was classic. Mark-Paul Gosselaar stayed in character the entire time, he chatted his state-of-the-art cell phone and used "time-out" to freeze the show and talk to me... I mean the camera. Also, Zach announced that he and Jesse would attend the SBTB reunion that Jimmy Fallon is planning. (only Screech and Kelly have yet to commit) Get excited!

Did Facebook jump the gun on this holiday? Or was it such a hit in years past that they wanted to make every day Talk Like a Pirate Day? Friends, Mateys, Me Heartys, today is yer lucky day. Nay, yer lucky week. Or in my case, lucky 15 minutes spent laughing my butt off at all the clever changes until it got annoying to interpret so I switched it back.

This is SO true. Luckily my boys realize it and spare me the pain. So when one of them makes a comment and the other laughs and I say "What?" and they say "You don't want to know." I leave it at that. Because there are just some things a girl just does not want to know. 

Because there are some things boys think are totally funny, but they are not, we girls just have the common sense to realize it. This is probably why they find those unrated boy humor movies so amusing. 

ps, The punch line to this joke is not funny. I was curious so I searched the internet for it. It is not even close to funny. So don't waste your time.

Also this is one of my favorite shows EVER. I cannot believe I have not blogged about it yet.

Map My Run is a pretty cool website. It allows you to plot points on a map to route your planned run or walk and it calculates the distance for you. This has become a handy little tool for me. The free version has an annoying pop-up add that you have to move every time you open the program, but you get what you pay for and it's free. It is really nice to know how far you've gone without having to drive the streets around your route and make a guesstimate based on your car's odometer.

There is also an iPhone app made by the same company but the jury is still out on that one. It seems to drain my battery pretty fast and the GPS is spotty. Don't know if the GPS problem is the app or the service provider.

So as much as I hate to admit it, I love this book. It takes all the excuses we women make for the disappointing behavior of men and crushes them. While I like to give men the benefit of the doubt (maybe he really was too busy to call me today like he said he would) sometimes my overactive excuse-making mind (maybe he miraculously got over the flu he had all week and decided to go back-woods camping all weekend and his cell phone did not get service so he literally could not call me or return my text these past four days) needs to be put in check (anyone want to sell me a bridge). And I quote:

With the advent of cell phones and speed dialing, it is almost impossible not to call you. Sometimes I call people from my pants pocket when I don't even mean to. If I were into you, you would be the bright spot in my horribly busy day. Which would be a day that I would never be too busy to call you.

It seems like a good excuse, but in fact, in every silo you uncover, all you are going to find is a man who didn't care enough to call.

Ah, Greg. Thanks for bringing me back to reality. What has now become a cliche phrase still holds true: 

Sometimes he's just not that into you (me).

ps, I had this book way before the movie came out.

pps, The movie is pretty great and you should see it.

Although it disappointingly strays from its core message towards the end.

super commercials 10:37 PM

For those of you who missed the Super Bowl last night, well you missed out. The game was great and the commercials were hilarious. Doritos started out strong in the race for funnies commercial, but in the end I would say that the undeniable winner was NBC. Who would have guessed. The had some good commercials for Heroes but I would have to say the best commercial was for their Thursday night line up. Watch it above. I will admit that I primarily watch the Superbowl for the commercials, but last night the game kept me enthralled as well. My favorite play was the one below. I was pulling for the Cardinals, but with a play like Harrison made, the Steelers deserved it.

It's The Bachelor time again. I often choose not to watch this series because I hate seeing all the caddy girls fight over a man. I prefer The Bachelorette, the way things should be. But this season I love who they chose as the bachelor. He is so kind and thoughtful and seems really sincere. He's cute with his kid, has a nice body and the greatest smile ever. I want to marry him.

. . . if only he were Mormon and not already engaged and knew who I was and liked chubby girls. What can I can I say, I am a sucker for a nice guy with a good smile. And I totally want to move to Seattle.

Today I was doing research online and saw a link to a person's blog. Since I am always curious to peak into other peoples lives, I followed the link. You know you would have done the same. Not to get too sidetracked from the task at hand, I left the tab open to look at later and went back to my research. Then out of nowhere an old familiar song began to play. "E O Mai" I recognized the voice of Keali'i Reichel immediately.

I have a Keali'i mix CD that I made while at BYU-Hawaii. It is the best. It is a calming presence when I am stressed. When a storm is raging outside of my car and I can feel all of the muscles in my body tensed, I slip that CD in and everything is a little less scary and stressful. I remember in Hawaii Drew and I could get ready to go somewhere and have a productive day, but if he put on Hawaiian music we were goners. Our day would go from a planned productive day to a relaxing day set to run on Hawaiian time as soon as the music started. Not very useful, but always enjoyable.

This is my Google home page theme. Paul Frank. Apparently I am un-hip (as noted earlier) because he is a famous artist and I just picked this artists theme after thinking "oh. that's a cute monkey". His name is Julius the Monkey; he is famous too. I bet Kristin and David knew about Julius.

I love the fun prints that pop up every time I open my homepage, they always make me smile. There are quite a few more than the ones above, but I just thought I would share a few.
