blueberries

I like blueberries. Small ones, not big ones. I like them a little tart. When I buy a basket I wash them and pick through them, immediately eating the big ones (to get them out of the way, like eating the thing you like least on your plate first) so I have the little yummy ones to look forward to eating the next days. I also like that when you break them open they are not actually blue. They are white. There is more white in the berry than blue. But they are called blueberries. The irony.

I also think they are pretty when you cut them open. It's a clean design. I am always impressed that the opacity of the white stands strong against its deep blue outside. I also like the simple vein of blue that runs through the middle to the tan seeds. Mother nature is one great designer.

PSA: a preventable disease

Just doing what I can to help prevent the spread of this horrible disease. Today we found out that Joe hadn't been vaccinated yet so we quickly remedied that. He is lucky that he has been able to survive the past fifty plus years without it catching it.

happy birthday bryce

One year ago today my younger sister Cathi had the unfortunate experience of having to push a little person out of her body sans epidural. Ouch! I am going to go out on a limb and say that it was worth the pain, because it brought this little guy into the world.

Bryce is the love of is parents life, Grandpa's little buddy, and the best thing to happen to Grandma since... well... yours truly. I actually think she likes him better than me. He is pretty cute. Wish I were closer to hang out with him more. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYCE!

Hope you liked the shoes. Remember, I am you cool firefighter aunt. The coolest Aunt you have.

memorials, sunset and frozen body parts

Yesterday Tamarin and I wandered around the memorials. It was freezing, but we were able to forget that for a while as the sun set and presented us with some beautiful colors.

We had fun wandering around and snapping some photos. I wish they would have captured the depth of the colors, but it seems like cameras never quite do real life justice.

After my butt and legs were sufficiently numb we headed back to the car. Then to the house, via the Kabob Palace, to finish up the Alias marathon. Good times. Wish she lived closer.

alias

I remember watching the first episode of Alias. Sydney Bristow, taking names and kicking trash, was the secret spy girl that we all wanted to be. With her rock hard abs, always perfect hair and beautiful handler Vaughn, Sydney was my hero. After that first episode I could not stop. I watched the first season on DVD in just a couple days. I loved Will and his beautiful eyes. Weiss, who I knew was meant to be my future boyfriend. And the unspoken sexual tension between Sydney and Vaughn - he loved her. I (along with millions of Americans) ate it up. Tamarin are on day two of our Alias marathon. We want to be Sydney Bristow.

New years resolution #16 - become as kick arse as Sydney Bristow.

new year

I like the new start of the new year. I know there are a lot of haters out there, but I think new years resolutions are great. For example last year one of my resolutions was to take the EMT-Paramedic class. And I did it. Granted, that was my resolution for the last two or three years but I feel okay about that. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. So some of my resolutions this year and new, and some are reoccurring. I will give you the short list - in no particular order:
* Pass the EMT-Paramedic Exam.
* Get my Firefighter 2 certification.
update 01/06: the above is a very fluid goal, depending on how work is treating me

* Bake less.
* Rock climb more.
* Buy the jacket pictured above.
* Pay tithing at more frequent intervals than bi-yearly.
* Go to the temple at least once a month.
* Visit teach every month.
* Go on a date.
* Go on a family vacation and a friend vacation.
* Clean my room.
* Learn what different spices taste like.
I think I can do most of those. I have had that last one on my list for a couple (or five) years. I know what a few spices taste like (cumin and basil) but I would like to be able to know what the chicken would taste like if I added marjoram. What is marjoram? Or since they were able to catch thyme in a bottle, would it be good on roast baby potatoes with a little olive oil and garlic? Can I take a class for this?

Welcome new year, new start, glad you are here.
